SDGs in Focus

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic poverty and hunger have increased. In particular, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and workers have been hit hard. As a result, the world needs to get value chains functioning, and allow for greater access to digital and other innovations.

Systems that were the most resilient during the pandemic had good social protection (too often SMEs are omitted), short communication chains, and excellent partnerships and engagement with governments and other stakeholders. This indicates a strong linkage to SDG17, partnerships.

Business is critical to the ‘build back better’ process in all sectors, and in SDG2 in particular where we see the full value chain from farm to fork.
