PERFECT opportunities for Farmer-to-Farmer exchange

GFRAS and NUFFIELD are part of the global working group on Talent Development in Agriculture: A call to action. Both organisations participated (as part of the Private Sector Mechanism delegation) at the 42nd session of the World Committee on Food Security (CFS) in Rome, October 2015. During this event, a topic on “Developing the knowledge, skills and talent of youth to further food security and nutrition” was top on the agenda.

With the quest for taking the talent development initiative forward GFRAS, NUFFIELD and UFS (Center for Sustainable Agriculture) in collaboration with Mpiwe Siyalima and NAMC are convening a Farmer-to-Farmer exchange event in South Africa. This event will welcome 8 farmers from Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada and United Kingdom, who are participants of the NUFFILED Global Focus Program (GFP). They will meet with some South African emerging farmers to exchange and learn from each others’ experience. Most importantly, to establish networks that could potentially lead to further collaborations across the continents.

The event will take place at the Mpiwe Siyalima farm in Bronkhorstspruit, about 45km east of Pretoria, on Friday, April 15th, 2016, from 12h00 – 16h00.
