New FAO and MasterCard Partnership Agreement

On September 2nd, 2015, the FAO and MasterCard signed a partnership agreement that will pave the way for a collaborative effort to develop inclusive payment systems to support small-scale farmers and poor families.

The two organizations will explore different ways to provide credit or money to households for purchases of basic needs and family inputs on local markets. This will support local economies and put financial tools in the hands of economically marginalized communities.
