Business and Industry Major Group Finds New Focal Points for HLPF

The Business and Industry Major Group (B&I) in New York has found two volunteers to take on the role of focal point: Norine Kennedy, Vice President, Strategic International Engagement, Environment and Energy Affairs, United States Council for international Business (USCIB); and Shea Gopaul, Special Representative to the UN for the International Organization of Employers (IOE).

They have been nominated as focal points subject to ratification on the next B&I group call proposed for July 17 or 18, at 8:00am Eastern time (TBC). If you would like to join this call, please fill in the following Doodle poll by June 11 – https://doodle.com/poll/B&I-HLPF Call. The confirmed date and time will be announced by the middle of next week. Should you not be able to join the call and have alternate nominees for the focal point position, please let us know by Thursday June 13.

The Business and Industry (B&I) Major Group to the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) in New York helps to co-ordinate input into the High Level Political Forum.  It prepares and coordinates business group involvement in meetings relating to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and its 17 SDGs. It assists UN DESA to liaise with business, identify appropriate business speakers and other resource persons to 2030 Agenda relevant meetings and to reach out to the full diversity of interested private sector groups and entities.
