Building Resilient Food Systems

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS), through its Programme of Work (MYPOW 2024-2027), requested the High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE-FSN) to produce a report on “Building resilient food systems” to be presented at the 53rd plenary session of the CFS in October 2025 and towards this end has issued a V0 draft of the upcoming report “Building resilient food systems”.

In response to this ongoing workstream the Private Sector Mechanism (PSM) has taken proactive steps to ensure private sector perspectives are meaningfully incorporated into the policy discourse. Following the consultation period on the HLPE-FSN V0 Draft Report, and after a thorough review process engaging various PSM members, the Secretariat has officially submitted PSM’s response. Our submission emphasizes the indispensable role of private sector investment, innovation, and collaboration in enhancing resilience across food systems—from immediate recovery efforts to long-term transformative actions. Key elements highlighted include the importance of global trade, digital innovation, financial mechanisms, and inclusive governance frameworks to bolster resilience. The PSM underscores that equitably transformative resilience requires actionable, evidence-based solutions and a strong enabling environment for business engagement.
