The new report highlights the active participation of the Private Sector Mechanism (PSM) during CFS53 in Rome
The 53rd Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS 53), held at FAO Headquarters in Rome, took place amid persistent global challenges: volatile food prices, climate shocks, and widening inequalities. According to the 2025 State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI), global hunger declined slightly but progress remains fragile and uneven, with hunger still above pre‑pandemic levels and nutrition targets off track. Against this backdrop, the urgency of transforming agrifood systems was at the center of debate. This underlined the crucial role of the Private Sector Mechanism (PSM) as a bridge in fostering innovation, enhancing Public-Private Partnerships and ensuring that food systems deliver for farmers, consumers, and communities alike.
Members of the International Agri-Food Network (IAFN) represented the private sector in global food security discussions. Throughout the sessions, PSM members engaged with a wider community of stakeholders — including governments, civil society, farmers, and youth — to contribute evidence-based perspectives and practical solutions for resilient food systems. The report showcases how private sector voices enriched the dialogue, strengthened multi‑stakeholder collaboration, and helped shape priorities for 2026 with the new IAFN Secretariat.
