Innovation systems for food security and nutrition: understanding the capacities needed

FAO will host a Symposium on “Innovation systems for food security and nutrition: understanding the capacities needed on June 21 (2-5 pm Sheikh Zayed Center).

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP) have the honour to extend an invitation to attend the International Symposium “Innovation systems for food security and nutrition: understanding the capacities needed”, which will be held at FAO Headquarters in Rome on 21 June 2016, from 14:00 to 17:00 hours.

This International Symposium will be conducted in English.

In the framework of efforts to promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, the Tropical Agriculture Platform, a G20 initiative facilitated by FAO, has recently hosted an electronic conference aimed at bringing together the issues of capacity development, agricultural innovation, and food security and nutrition, with the objective of developing recommendations for policy-making. The dialogue opened by the e-conference will be completed by the International Symposium.

The electronic conference took place from 18 April to 20 May 2016. The TAP Common Framework on Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CD-AIS) served as the conceptual and methodological basis for the e-conference. The background paper, which provides information about the theme and discussed issues, is available here, while all messages posted during the conference are available here.

Please confirm your participation in the International Symposium to the TAP Secretariat (email: tropagplatform@fao.org) by 10 June 2016.
