Global Forum for Food and Agriculture Communiqué 2020

The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture took place in Berlin from January 16 – 18. This is an international conference that focuses on agri-food policy issues with this years theme being “Food for All! Trade for Secure, Diverse and Sustainable Nutrition.” There was approximately 2000 international visitors from a variety of sectors including politics, industry, science and civil society. 


After the conference a communiqué is released which discusses the outcomes of the three day conference. The 2020 communiqué begins, “We, the agriculture ministers of 71 nations, have assembled here on 18 January 2020 for the 12th Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Conference on the occasion of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA). We have discussed how trade in food and agricultural commodities and trade in services for agriculture can contribute to achieving food security for the world’s increasing population, enhancing nutrition and human health, improving farmers’ livelihoods and income, and achieving more sustainable food systems to preserve the planet.”
