EBRD 2016 Annual Meeting: Sustainability Event

2015 saw the approval of the new UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an ambitious agenda for change that aims to make significant progress in eradicating poverty, promoting prosperity and protecting the environment by 2030.

The goals were endorsed by world leaders and the heads of multilateral development banks, including the EBRD, and include 17 goals that encompass social, economic and environmental issues.

It is clear that there are already existing areas of overlap between the SDGs and the EBRD’s strategy to build economic resilience, support market integration and address global and regional challenges.

But how exactly does the EBRD already contribute to the goals in its countries of operations? And how can the Bank and its partners step up these contributions and make progress in the future?

These questions will be at the heart of the debate at Tomorrow’s a sustainable world …a Future Vision, a panel discussion at the EBRD’s 2016 Annual Meeting and Business Forum featuring such experts as  Jacqueline McGlade, Chief Scientist of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Samuel Fankhauser, Co-Director of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change.

The EBRD 2016 Annual Meeting will take place Wednesday the 11th and Thursday the 12th of May.
