During CFS46 the Private Sector hosted a side event entitled Partnering for Change: Multistakeholder Partnerships and CFS. The side event discussed new multistakeholder partnerships being built and announced in the context of the CFS. CFS is one of the largest convenings on food security and nutrition each year and this is the opportunity to drive action on the issues which are discussed each year at CFS. The full programme and description can be found below.
Throughout early 2018, the High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE) worked on a zero draft of a paper on Multistakeholder Partnerships to Finance and Improve Food Security and Nutrition in the Context of the 2030 Agenda. PSM members contributed to this draft.
The role of partnerships has been gaining recognition in the context of development strategies and international policy-making. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in particular SDF 17, calls for a revitalized and enhanced global partnership, that brings together governments, civil society, the private sector, the UN system, and other actors, and mobilizes all available resources to achieve the SDGs ambitious targets. The report of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development1 (paragraph 10), and the FAO Strategy for Partnership with the Private Sector2 also provide a clear call to action for delivering global partnerships for sustainable development, including private sector engagement.
